Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  Has it not been told you from the beginning?  Have you not understood since the earth was founded?  He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.  He stretches out the heavens like a conaopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.  He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.  No sooner are they planted no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they whither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.   Isaiah 40:21-24

Our God is our eternal ruler.  He is our shepherd and guide.  We only need to look to Him for wisdom and guidance.  He will care for us, love us and hold us.  Look to the Lord, seek Him always!

Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.  Isaish 40:28

“The Lord Almighty has declared in my hearing:  ‘Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants.’ ”   Isaiah 5:9

In this verse Isaiah is telling of the judgements that will face Israel, but I certainly can see how it applies to us today.  Our country is facing a hard economic time.  The news is full of the troubles we are facing.  Every time we drive somewhere we see another house in foreclosure.  It is sad, scary and unsettling.  But the Lord is our strength.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom shall I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Psalm 18:2

Only God can protect us from the oncoming onslaught, we will be facing.  We will see hardships, I have no doubt.  But I have the peace that the Lord is my shield, He is my rock.  I can stand on him.  I can run to Him to find refuge when life gets scary and unpredictable.

Oh Lord, thank you for being my deliverer.  I am so weak and easily scared.  But, you know me and love me just as I am.  Help me Lord to run to you each and every day to seek the comfort only you can give.
